All activities must have permission slips to participate.  Cancellations may occur on the date of activities. This will be announced as soon as it occurs.

Brain Bowl

MEETING DAY

6th - 8th Grades: Brain Bowl is a year-long activity where you will practice trivia-style questions as members of the official OCIS Brain Bowl Team. During weekly meetings, students work in groups to practice questions from particular categories such as History, Literature, Science, Math, the Arts. A few times a year the team will travel to local schools to compete against other middle school students.

6th-8th Grades: The OCIS Cheer Club offers 6th to 8th graders a chance to learn dances, cheers, chants, and team-building activities. Members also perform at school events and attend all boys and girls home basketball games to boost team spirit, lead the crowd and help to motivate the basketball teams.

Chess Club

MEETING DAY

4th - 8th Grades: Chess, a game with a rich history spanning over 1500 years, captivates millions worldwide, making it one of the most beloved games ever played. What's the secret to its long lasting popularity? It's timeless nature appeals to many ages, welcoming players from 6 to 106. Catering to beginners and masters alike, it is always a unique experience. Chess fosters camaraderie among those with shared interests in puzzles, strategy games, and friendly competition. It's a mental workout and fosters intellectual growth.

4th - 8th Grades: Our laid-back club is all about fostering connections between old and new friends. Throughout the year, we enjoy various activities like outdoor play, crafting, games, gentle scavenger hunts, and simply unwinding together while "Just Plain Chilling." It's a peaceful and cozy atmosphere where you can enjoy the company of your peers.

Fishing Club

7th & 8th Grades: Founded in 2004, the Fishing Club aims to encourage the love of fishing and reconnect children with the outdoors and outdoor exploration. Members learn essential skills like knot tying and species identification. Trips include charter boat, surf, and pier fishing. Additionally, we organize a fishing flea market to raise funds for members, ensuring they have access to necessary gear for their angling adventures.

Mocean City Dance

MEETING DAY (2:20-4:00)
Winter months

4th - 8th Grades: Mocean City Dance focuses on bringing positivity to both our school and ourselves through self-reflection. Mocean City Dance begins with a team building exercise at OCIS each week, followed by a guided dance lesson by the OCHS Dance class at the OC Aquatic and Fitness Center. Each dance is directly tied to the team building activity completed that week. Mocean City Dance runs weekly during the winter months from 2:20-4:00pm.

Motion Media Club

4th - 8th Grades: Our Motion Media Club meets-up at the Ocean City Skateboard Park on Asbury Avenue for skating and filming video together. On the colder winter days, we will edit videos in the OCIS iMac Lab. All students are welcome.

National Junior Honor Society & Homework Help Clinic

MEETING DAY (HHC)

7th Grade: The NJHS is open for 7th graders to apply at the end of the 3rd marking period. These students must meet the academic requirements such as: have all A's in the first and second marking periods. As 8th graders, members help run our after-school Homework Help Clinic. This gives students a chance to help and connect with some of the younger students in our school! Additionally, members visit the Primary School to host a Q & A with the 3rd graders, to prepare them for Intermediate School. This visit concludes with a trip to the Boardwalk to celebrate the 8th graders' accomplishments.

4th - 8th Grades: Attention inventors and problem solvers! Come join OC Life 21 for a chance to participate in the STEAM TANK competition. Here you'll work on creating solutions to everyday problems that are both sustainable and inventive.

4th - 8th Grades: If you enjoy writing, reporting the news, and current events, then the School Newspaper Club wants you! Be part of creating the school newspaper by putting your creative mind and thoughts to the test. Members will be given a choice on what you want to submit. From writing sports pieces to comics, you will be provided a creative space to share thoughts on the world around us to our school. Newspaper Club is a great opportunity for students to meet new friends, work in a collaborative environment, and share creative ideas.

6th - 8th Grades: Pick up a new skill or perfect the ones you have! Open to all surfing abilities, the Surf Club meets on the beach at 3rd Street every week - conditions permitting. We have a great time surfing in fun fall weather.

4th & 5th Grades: Technology provides students the necessary skills to discover, experiment, create and problem-solve a variety of topics - so much more than TikTok, SnapChat, and Messenger. Areas of exploration with the Technology Club include STEM Challenges, web page design, coding, multimedia presentations, Pointillism Perfection with Wixie, Bot Building, and more. Get ready to share and learn with others who have the same interest as you.

Yearbook

Club meets based on photography requirements

6th - 8th Grades: The Yearbook Club is looking for photographers, editors, designers, and memory collectors to join! Starting in October, members will dive into hands-on activities, including practicing photography skills, organizing school photos, mastering yearbook design software, and editing pages. Throughout the year, students will have the chance to capture special moments at school events. Club meetings will be scheduled based on photography requirements and the completion of yearbook pages. All communication will occur through the Yearbook Schoology page. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity!

Transportation

Activity Buses are available Monday through Thursday, leaving the school at 3:30 PM.  All students will be placed on the bus if their own transportation is not at the school by 3:20 PM. There are three activity/late buses. One that goes to Sea Isle City, one that goes to the south end of town and one that goes to the north end of town. These buses do not stop at the normal bus stops as there are less scheduled stops. Check with the bus driver for exact stop locations.
