Students & Parents
The process of preparing for kindergarten can be exciting and fun! Also, there can be a lot of questions--and that is just for the parents.
We have created this informational website in the hope of sharing information, tips, and activities that will ensure a positive transition as you prepare your child to begin Kindergarten as well as join our Raider Ready Program. We will address some typical questions about starting school and provide some fun learning resources to practice with your children. The journey that your child will take is one that we will all embark on together as part of an educational team!
So what does being ready for kindergarten actually mean? It is helpful for children to develop some basic skills so that they are ready to successfully learn and adapt to a kindergarten classroom environment. These skills include language, literacy, physical movement, math, cognitive ability, and social-emotional. You may be wondering, How can my child begin developing these skills?
To help you get started, we have listed each one of the skill areas, what it means, and some activities that you can do at home with your child. Some of these you may already be doing and some may be new to you. Keep in mind that children develop at different rates so if your child is not grasping a concept right away, try again at a later time.
To learn more about each area and activities that you can do with your child to develop these skills, please see below. Above all, have fun and enjoy spending time with your child as you watch them grow as learners! We cannot wait to welcome them to Kindergarten!
